Final figure can’t be determined yet

Soon enough we will see electric hot hatch and electric SUV as a product of the two company’s partnership. Alpine and Lotus will soon start working on the successor of the Alpine A110, and electric sports car. It has also been announced that a hot hatch and a C-segment crossover will also be launched.

The brand was revived by the company with a lightweight A110 two-seater in 2017. The model was quite successful, but there was no follow-up model from the brand, which raised questions about its future. Luca de Meo has said that he supports the plans to make the brand the company’s performance arm. Laurent Rossi, the boss of Alpine, told us that they will focus on making exclusive innovative sports cars.

The next step is for the companies to conduct a detailed comprehensive feasibility study, for the new vehicle. The experts from both companies will work together on this, and they will determine whether or not the new car could be successful.

We have not been provided with any details of the car and nor we have been given any timeline, but it is certain the version would be a successor to the A110. This will make sure the brand is regarded as a fully electric lineup. Lotus intends to add more vehicles to its EV line-up, so this joint venture is a great chance for both brands to reduce the costs of developing a dedicated electric sports car platform.

According to Luca de Meo, the final figure can’t be determined yet, but their target for the vehicle is to be available to customers for a price similar to the A110. But, he also mentioned that it will, more likely, have a higher price, as it would be electric.

Both brands are placing a great emphasis on lightweight vehicles, and want the future models to have traits like nimble handling. They will also develop several joint services to maximize their engineering abilities. How fruitful this partnership would be for both brands and how good the vehicle will be, only time can tell.
